Talking Naturals & Non-Tox With goop Beauty Director Jean Godfrey-June
Many of the founders, the reason why they came to clean beauty was because of an illness. They either had cancer or an autoimmune disease, and they treated their disease not only by cleaning up their food and cleaning products, but also their beauty products. Anything they’re exposing themselves to.
Sound familiar? Jean Godfrey-June knows what she’s talking about. One of the veterans of the beauty world, she was beauty director at Elle and then Lucky, and now works alongside Gwyneth Paltrow as the beauty director at goop. After a long career of experiencing everything the skincare and cosmetics industry had to offer, Godfrey-June is now a died-in-the-wool (all natural and organic, of course), proponent of natural skincare.
She sat down with Beautyeditor to dish on all things cosmetics and skincare, but particularly green beauty. She discusses the products in her own skincare routine (spoiler alert: Vintner’s Daughter facial oil gets a lot of love), and also what the naturals movement was like when the ball first got rolling with products from Weleda and Burt’s Bees, and how it has picked up steam ever since.
Her most important beauty swap? Sunscreen.
The sneakiest ingredient in cosmetics and skincare? “Fragrance.”
Her favorite product from the goop + Juice Beauty collaboration? The Enriching Face Oil.
Has she ever used one of the GP vagina eggs? You’ll have to read the interview to find out…
